The Hospitality Controller (HC) will be responsible for general ledger accounting and financial reporting for several operating entities in our portfolio.
In this position you will be an integral part of the accounting and finance team.
The HC is currently responsible for three operating restaurants, a catering company and an Inn, with additional business start-ups in the planning stages.
In this key role, the HC will report to the Corporate Controller as well as work in partnership with the VP of hospitality operations.
You will supervise and guide accounts payable staff.
Duties/Responsibilities include but are not limited to: · Accurate and timely month and year-end close process · General ledger review and reconciliations · Partner with operations to ensure policies and procedures to safeguard company assets and allow for accurate timely financial reporting · Budget and forecasting processes · Intercompany transaction recording and reconciling · Provide recommendations for continuous improvement of accounting processes and internal controls · Production of periodic financial reports and weekly operational flash reports · Sales tax reporting and working with outside tax partners · Perform other related duties as necessary or assigned Required Skills/Abilities: · Team-oriented with excellent verbal and written communication skills · Ability to collaborate with internal stakeholders, executives, peers, and vendors/customers · Self-directed with superior attention to detail, possessing experience in complex, fast-paced, and deadline-driven environments.
· Analytical skills and ability to resolve complex accounting issues in a timely manner.
· Extensive knowledge of internal control functions · Proven knowledge of accounting principles, practices, standards as well as related laws and regulations · Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software _*Education and Experience Requirements*_*:* · BS in Accounting and 5+ years accounting experience required.
· Public accounting experience a plus · Supervisory and mentorship experience Physical Requirements: · Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
· Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
