Hancock County Government is seeking *full-time *position to fill a vacancy in our *District Attorney’s Office as a Detective.

The Hancock County District Attorney is seeking an individual who is responsible for all investigations requested by the District Attorney, Deputy District Attorney, or the Assistant District Attorneys, on criminal matters of any kind or nature.
*The starting rate of pay for the District Attorney Detective position is $35.
73 *and additional compensation may be given consideration with relevant experience.
We are looking to hire a conscientious District Attorney detective to assist us in conducting investigations.
The District Attorney Detective will collaborate with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies, work in an undercover capacity, and interview witnesses and interrogate suspects.
When compiling reports, the District Attorney Detective will ensure all avenues have been explored and no defenses have been overlooked.
You will gather, assess and preserve evidence.
To be successful in this role you will be focused on serving and protecting the community, and meticulously gather and preserve evidence.

*District Attorney Detective Responsibilities:*
· Investigating cases assigned by District Attorney independently or as part of a team.
· Collaborating with district attorney's office attorneys to evaluate and prepare cases for court.
· Documenting, reviewing and assessing information.
· Serving subpoenas, show cause orders and summonses, executing search and arrest warrants, and locating witnesses.
· Arranging extradition of relevant parties.
· Interviewing, questioning and taking statements from suspects and witnesses.
· Preparing, reviewing, evaluating reports.
· Advising District Attorney on course of action.
· Delivering testimony in court.
· Collaborating with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies.
· Representing District Attorney's Office in meetings and at conferences.
*District Attorney Detective Requirements:*
· High School Graduate or equivalency
· Equivalent to 2 years of college education focusing on police science, criminology or related field.
· 20+ years’ experience as a law enforcement officer with criminal investigation experience.
· 5 years’ experience as a supervising officer
· Graduate of the Maine Criminal Justice Academy;
· Valid driver’s license.
· Proficient knowledge of modern investigative techniques and legal processes.
· Proficient knowledge of applicable laws.
· Training in firearms
· Ability to maintain good working relationship with District Attorney.
· Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Upon hire and periodically thereafter, must comply with Hancock County background check requirements with satisfactory results as outlined in current contract provisions.
