The Logistics Manager, reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, recommends, designs and implements optimal transportation modes, routing, equipment and personnel management for all logistics activities.
*Essential Job Functions*
Recommend optimal transportation modes, routing, equipment or frequency
Plan or implement material flow management systems to meet future production requirements and global logistics strategies
Maintain metrics, reports, process documentation, logs and safety records
Implement specific customer requirements, such as customized transportation metrics
Resolve problems concerning transportation, logistics systems, imports or exports, or customer issues
Ensure appropriate regulatory and legal compliance
Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures for product transit or delivery
Direct distribution department to ensure achievement of cost, productivity, accuracy and timeliness objectives
Design models for use in evaluating logistics
Recommend purchase of new and improved equipment, technology and facilities
Develop risk management programs to ensure continuity of supply in the wake of a catastrophic event
Analyze the financial impact of proposed logistic changes
*Supervisory Responsibilities*
Supervises warehouse and transportation personnel
*Skills/Experience/Training Required*
Four-year degree in business, or equivalent combination of education and experience; minimum high-school diploma or GED
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Excellent skills in three-dimensional thinking, problem solving and negotiation
Working knowledge of modern office procedures, practices and equipment, including the use of computers
*Working Conditions*
Combination of normal office environment (not subject to extremes in temperature, noise, odors, etc.
) and typical warehouse environment (exposure to noise, occasional fumes, high temperatures in summer)
Regularly use computer keyboard and mouse, requiring hand-eye coordination and finger dexterity
Some travel required
Regularly move or lift 15 pounds; occasionally move or lift up to 50 pounds.
