Preble Street’s Emergency Food Services help meet the nutritional needs of our community members through our Food Security Hub, Mobile Food Services, Food Pantry, and shelter-based meal service sites.
Preble Street has adapted how it provides food services to effectively meet the food needs of people experiencing homelessness and food insecurity—and our team of food services professionals work together in our innovative Food Programs toward achieving our goals to address and end hunger in our communities.
The Warehouse and Distribution Team Lead provides leadership in the day-to-day activities and planning of the warehouse and transport operations of Preble Street’s Food Programs to ensure that our community members have access to nutritious, delicious food every day.
This hands-on position will work under the direction of the Director of Operations, providing task guidance and direction to staff on food storage, pick up, transport, and distribution; navigating loading docks and commercial spaces to pick up purchased and donated food; organizing warehouse space and operations; supporting efficient and accurate inventory maintenance, and assisting in various Food Programs tasks, as requested or assigned.
This is a full-time position with a schedule of Tuesday - Saturday, 7:00am – 3:00pm.
Candidates with any combination of training and/or work experience likely to provide skills or ability to perform successfully in the position of Warehouse and Distribution Team Lead position will be considered.
Specific qualifications include: alignment with Preble Street’s mission, positive regard for individuals accessing services for homelessness and poverty, and a commitment to providing low-barrier services; strong organizational and communication skills, and experience working in a team setting with a diverse population: ability and flexibility to work different and/or extended shifts to meet program coverage needs: knowledge of food safety practices and storage; regularly work a full-time schedule, with consistent, predictable on-site attendance to meet program coverage needs; one to three years supervisory/management experience in food service operations or similar field; ability to drive a small cargo truck with a valid driver’s license and an acceptable motor vehicle record.
Compensation and Benefits
This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position, with a pay rate of $21.
48/hour.
