Salt Cottages in Bar Harbor is looking for an Operations Manager to join our team!
Full-time, year-round position.
50 hours per week in-season, 40 hours per week, off-season.
*Additional hours may be required as needed.
Qualified candidates must have their own housing and live in the area year-round.
Located just minutes from downtown Bar Harbor at the Hulls Cove entrance to Acadia National Park, Salt Cottages brings a family-friendly resort complete with lodge and private cabin accommodations to Mount Desert Island.
The new owners, who have been managing successful hotels in Maine for decades, have transformed this collection of cottages dating back to the 1940's, with a keen eye and attention to detail.
Team members wear multiple hats and do “whatever it takes” to create a terrific guest experience for our guests.
The Operations Manager will take a hands-on approach to assist, train and lead staff to ensure our Companies' goals and standards are being met.
This position is crucial in promoting a positive team culture and influencing fluid teamwork throughout the property.
The Operations Manager is responsible for assisting the General Manager to lead and support day to day operations of the hotel.
Other responsibilities include:
Assist team with the day-to-day tasks
Assist with interviewing and training new front-line staff
New employee orientation and paperwork for all departments
Manages reservations and emails for the hotel
Leads Front Desk staff and operations
Respond to guest complaints and queries
Communicate goals, policies and procedures to team
Makes sure that staff have the capabilities and tools necessary to meet expectations
Organize guest enhancements, train staff on execution
Manage giftshop inventory and ordering
Creates and promotes a positive welcoming team culture and influences fluid teamwork throughout the property, leading by example and demonstrating trust, positive energy and enthusiasm
Is a hands-on leader
Provide all aspects of shift coverage in Front Office, Housekeeping and F&B operations as needed
Serve as lead management when General Manager is not present
Other tasks assigned by General Manager
Qualifications:
Minimum of three to five years' related experience, including at least 2 years of supervisory experience
Ability to be on your feet for long periods of time
Flexible schedule, must be willing to work weekends
Long hours may be required during peak season
Ability to effectively communicate with employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner
Ability to remain calm, courteous, and professional with coworkers and guests and in difficult situations
