As a Validation Science and Engineering Intern at IDEXX, you will:
Gain exposure to a variety of science and engineering related activities to verify that IDEXX products and instruments being designed, developed, or changed are in compliance with specifications, requirements, and IDEXX/regulatory guidelines.
Becoms familiar with processes, engineering changes, materials, test methods, systems, software, equipment, facilities, products, and other areas and activities used in a global company.
Collaborate with V&V (Validation & Verification) staff to conduct meaningful testing in support of ongoing projects to validate products and processes.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Gains awareness of validation activities, including Installation Qualification/Operations Qualification/Performance Qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ).
Assists in the creation and completion of Change Effect Assessments (CEAs), the validation requirements, associated testing protocols, and training required.
Assists in monitoring ongoing design efforts to determine and communicate validation tests, protocols, and standards.
Conducts validation test plans and analyzes results, collects, and reviews validation data.
Becomes familiar with project tracking methods and assists in writing reports on validation activities, statuses, and commitments.
Tracks and communicates progress of work against milestones.
Exposed to non-V&V areas of the company to understand the importance of cross-functional teams in a work environment.
Will sit in on team meetings to observe how groups in companies operate.
Will give a monthly report to discuss learnings and questions.
At the end of the work term, will practice leading a team meeting, including presenting on a project they have worked on.
What you will need to succeed:
You are a 3rd or 4th year student pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in a STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) or business related major.
Have a problem-solving mindset and enjoy working with data.
Technical background with strong troubleshooting, diagnostics, and process improvement skills.
Experience using analytical tools such as JMP, Excel, Minitab, SAS, Tableau, or other software tools (preferred).
Have general computer skills, with proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project) and other engineering software as required.
Can work both independently and within cross-functional teams.
