Position Summary
Under moderate supervision, applies principles of accounting and statistical analysis in order to maintain control and accountability in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
In doing so, monitors and maintains control of various general ledger accounts, prepares journal entries and detailed reports, prepares financial statements and analyses reflecting financial status and activities.
Ensures timely and accurate processing of account reconciliations, billings, disbursement requests and analyses of accounts in this area.
Ensures compliance with various internal controls, policies and procedures by effectively communicating and interacting with hospital departments, affiliates, and other organizations.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
Education: Knowledge of accounting principles and accounting systems to maintain general ledgers and journals and prepare related statements and reports.
Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent Advanced Accounting courses completed in a Business Degree.
License/Certifications: C.

Experience: 1-2 years of experience preferred but not required.
Knowledge and experience with mainframe and personal computers.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and IBM PCs preferred.
Analytical skills to collect pertinent information necessary to prepare, reconcile, and analyze, financial statements and reports.
Understanding and ability to apply fundamental concepts and principles of fund accounting.
Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively with various hospital personnel in the collection and analysis of financial data, with third parties and financial issues, and auditors and regulatory agencies when conducting hospital audits.
Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail when reviewing ledgers and preparing detailed financial and statistical reports.
Ability to speak and write effectively; communicating clearly through workpaper schedules, memoranda, and discussions with management personnel.
Ability to organize and prioritize workload to meet deadlines.
Demonstration of integrity, maturity, dependability, stamina, tact, positive attitude, and enthusiasm in the performance of responsibilities.
