Who we are seeking: We are looking for a Staff Accountant who will provide accounting and regulatory support for various programs.
You have experience managing accounting and reporting for notes receivable and notes payable transactions You are a skilled accountant with an understanding of general ledger reconciliations, adjusting journal entries, and the monthly close process.
You bring diverse perspectives, experiences, and approaches to the team and enjoy the opportunity to work with people to seek best practices in your work.
You have great technical accounting skills and share your technical knowledge with the team.
You are a team player and a collaborator able to be an active team member and seamlessly back up your fellow senior accountants.
You possess great organizational skills and process information, solve problems, and communicate effectively to the team.

Some of your key responsibilities in this role will be: You will manage accounting and reporting for notes receivable transactions, including reconciling the general ledger to the lending software monthly, and resolving discrepancies between the two.
You will manage accounting and reporting for CEI borrowing activity including proper recording and classification of obligations.
You will provide internal and external reporting and analysis for various departments and industry entities.
You will manage fixed asset ledgers, including accounting for acquisitions, depreciation expense, and preparing reconciliations.
You will prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end reconciliations of balance sheet general ledger accounts.
You will be actively involved in supporting the timely month-end close process.
Preferred candidates will have: Bachelor’s degree in accounting and/or an Associate’s degree with at least 3 years of relevant experience.
Nonprofit accounting experience is a plus.
Technical knowledge using MS Office systems, including high proficiency in Excel and Word.
Analytical capabilities and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and be a team player with effective interpersonal skills.
Effective written, and verbal communication and organizational skills.
Works flexibly and embraces change.
Other details: This is a full-time exempt position, with excellent benefits and generous time off.
The posting range is $59,000 – $63,000 a year.
We work in a hybrid model, two days in the office, and three days at home.
This position is based out of our headquarters in Brunswick, ME.
