OVERVIEW:
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for managing all aspects of the payroll process, in close collaboration with internal partners, including but not limited to maintaining time keeping records and reviewing payroll and payroll reports for accuracy.
This position requires significant attention to detail with considerable knowledge of payroll administration, including multiple states and federal regulations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Analyzes, prepares and inputs payroll data.
Uses automated system to produce accurate and timely payroll.
Ensures compliance with all applicable state and federal wage and hour laws
Prepares weekly, monthly, quarterly and year-end reports (gross payroll, hours worked, vacation accrual, tax deductions, benefit deductions, etc.
)
Conducts regularly scheduled audits of payroll records to ensure continued accuracy
Performs account reconciliations and provides general ledger support
Maintains confidentiality regarding all financial matters
Stays current on payroll systems to achieve alignment with HR benefits and other related and to ensure effective accounting support
Develops and maintains payroll procedures and documentation to ensure consistency and accuracy.
Establishes and maintains a positive working relationship with both internal and external stakeholders
Manages employee concerns, in close partnership with HR, regarding incorrect payments and resolves discrepancies
Facilitates management and employee understanding of payroll procedures
Manages payroll workflows, process garnishments, distributes W-2 forms, tracks PFP, assembles financial data for audits
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
No supervisory responsibility.
EXPECTED WORKDAYS/ HOURS:
This position requires full, flexible availability including evenings and weekends as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A minimum of four (4) years payroll experience; Associate’s degree in accounting preferred.
Extensive knowledge of payroll industry software tools.
UKG (Ultimate Kronos Group) experience preferred
Must be 18 years of age or older.
